Artist, Singer, Songwriter, CEO & Co-Founder
There are keynote speakers who inform, and then there are those who transform the room. SHINGAI belongs firmly in the latter category.
Internationally renowned as a Zimbabwean-British artist, creative visionary and cultural advocate, SHINGAI’s work exists at the intersection of music, heritage, care and collective responsibility. Her voice is both deeply personal and globally relevant shaped by a family legacy rooted in service, healing and community care.
As the daughter of a social service worker and a doctor, and the niece of numerous care providers, SHINGAI brings a lived understanding of what care truly means. Not simply as an industry or profession, but as a cultural value system one grounded in dignity, humanity and interdependence.
At the heart of her keynote is a powerful reflection on the immense contribution of Zimbabweans, Africans and diaspora communities within the UK care sector. Across hospitals, care homes and community services, generations of African care professionals have sustained and strengthened the fabric of British healthcare and social care systems.
Yet SHINGAI’s message goes further.
Her keynote challenges care professionals, investors and leaders to ask deeper questions:
What does ethical exchange between nations and communities really look like?
How can knowledge, skills and systems developed abroad be repatriated back into the communities where many of these values originated?
And how do we build futures where care is reciprocal not extractive?
Central to this conversation is the philosophy of Ubuntu “I am because we are.” A worldview that recognises our shared humanity and collective responsibility toward one another.
Having recently relocated to Zimbabwe, SHINGAI is now the CEO and co-founder of Ubuntu Futures Organics (UFO), an ambitious cultural centre based in Murehwa. Once launched, UFO will serve the rapidly growing culture, wellness and hospitality sectors, creating a space where creativity, healing, sustainability and community development can thrive together.
Through this work, SHINGAI continues to bridge diaspora and homeland connections in meaningful, practical ways.
Her keynote will also explore her wider cultural and community initiatives, including collaborations with Muzita Legacy and Vana Trust. Across these partnerships, she advocates for dignified care for elders, recognising that intergenerational wisdom is one of society’s greatest and most undervalued resources.
In an age where migration, identity and belonging continue to shape our world, SHINGAI also calls upon diasporans to actively participate in the development of Zimbabwe — especially in the kumusha communities where sustainable engagement and reinvestment are needed most.
This is more than a keynote.
It is a call to remember where we come from, to honour those who care for others, and to imagine a future where culture, compassion and community are treated not as luxuries, but as essential foundations for collective wellbeing.
